Bridgerton Garden Relocation to Addenbrooke’s Hospital

In May 2025, the Bridgerton Garden found its permanent home at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, following its debut as a Silver Medal winner at the 2024 RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Originally designed for Netflix and Shondaland to reflect a narrative of personal growth, the garden was carefully reimagined as an accessible sanctuary for patients, staff, and the local community. Every signature element—from the hand-carved stone sculpture and moongate to the period water feature—was sustainably repurposed and adapted to ensure the space is fully inclusive for wheelchair users and high-traffic hospital use.

To transition from a show garden to a lasting public asset, the planting scheme was refined to feature hardy, long-season perennials and ornamental grasses that offer year-round interest with lower maintenance requirements. Now situated between the Rosie and Addenbrooke’s hospitals, the garden serves as a therapeutic "living gift," providing a serene environment for reflection and recovery. This relocation marks the final chapter of the project’s journey, evolving from a televised story into a tangible community space that will continue to grow through local volunteer involvement and seasonal displays.
